A Second Screen September to Remember

A quick look at the calendar reveals there are a lot of Second Screen/Social TV-friendly events coming up in September:

September 5, “Second Screen Supper” (London, UK) – MESA Alliance and 2nd Screen Society jointly produced two valuable and informative Summits in Los Angeles and New York earlier this year. The gathering in London will be more limited, a dinner following the UltraViolet conference earlier in the day, on the eve of IBC.

September 7-11, IBC (Amsterdam, Netherlands) – We will see a fair bit of Second Screen representation at the show. Aside from the exclusive demonstration recently announced by Capablue and Intrasonic, the Conference Programme lists a number of panels devoted to our industry (Social Media Meets TV; Second Screen is Key to New Relationships; Rise of Second Screen and How It Impacts Content; Industry Insights: Who’s the Second Screen Now; The Challenges of Multimedia on Multiscreens). That’s to say nothing of our industry’s contributions to advertising, commerce and social media integration.

We will be demonstrating our platform and capabilities at the Technicolor booth in Hall 14 – please do stop by. Which reminds me…

September 8, Second Screen Summit (Amsterdam) – The 2nd Screen Society and MESA will hold an afternoon event at the Okura Hotel featuring keynote presentations and panels. We’ll be there as well.

September 20-21, Multiscreen Summit (Los Angeles) – This 2-day event put on by Unicomm (who also produce the 3D Entertainment Summit) with partners Variety and AdWeek will focus on the impact second screen is having on the entertainment ecosystem. Magic Ruby is a sponsor and will participate in panel discussions and feature a tabletop demo of one of our upcoming apps.

September 20, Next TV Summit (San Francisco) – MultiChannel News and Broadcasting & Cable are producing this event, which is co-sponsored by ConnecTV. Two panels (out of five total) are Second Screen/Social TV focused, and a third – Targeted Advertising – also has significant overlap.

Somehow we’ll have to squeeze in second-screen-friendly programming like the Video Music Awards (September 6), the Primetime Emmys (September 23) and 1,001 sporting events (US Tennis Open, MLB playoff races, start of NFL and NCAA Football seasons).

Things are definitely heating up.
