Magic Ruby’s Second Screen Tool Kit to Include Contextual Commerce for the Television
Delivery Agent, the leader in shopping enabled entertainment for more than 350 of the world’s leading global media brands, today announced that Magic Ruby, the infrastructure company that enables smart tablets, mobile devices and computers to become dynamic companions to the primary screen, will join the TV Wallet™ developer program and license Delivery Agent’s TV Wallet platform, and entertainment product APIs, to monetize their second screen entertainment apps through commerce.
This cross-platform licensing deal comes on the heels of the launch of the FX Sons of Anarchy App developed by Magic Ruby. The Sons of Anarchy app, now available at the App Store and Google Play, allows fans to sync in real time with the show or use the Season 4 Blu-ray Disc to shop for authentic merchandise they see on screen or licensed goods. All transactions are powered by Delivery Agent’s TV Wallet.
Magic Ruby’s technology allows consumers to further engage with entertainment content via true two-way synchronization of the main screen with the second screen. The Magic Ruby platform can synch with just about any other primary content source including broadcast, cable TV, VOD and Blu-ray media. With the integration of TV Wallet, Magic Ruby will add contextual commerce to its suite of features that includes social network integration as well as a full content management system.
Magic Ruby offers its platform on a white label basis with all features customizable. Current clients include: FX Network, Fox Home Entertainment and The Weinstein Company.
“We are excited about Magic Ruby’s second-screen product and the traction they’ve gotten in the marketplace,” said Mike Fitzsimmons, Delivery Agent CEO. “TV Wallet will add another engagement layer- and method to monetize that engagement- to their already robust platform.”
“Our platform has allowed the entertainment industry to leverage trends in concurrent TV viewing and second screen usage,” said Tom Engdahl, President and CEO of Magic Ruby. “Our licensing deal with Delivery Agent now enables us to monetize second-screen engagement on behalf of our media clients.”
Delivery Agent’s TV Wallet has processed millions of entertainment commerce transactions for longtime clients including – NBCUniversal, Twentieth Century Fox, CBS, Discovery Communications, A+E Television Networks, HBO, Showtime, UFC, New York Knicks and more.
